The nude art community is a group of artists, models, and enthusiasts passionate about creating and appreciating art that features the human form in its natural state.

Nude art has a long and rich history that spans thousands of years. It can be traced back to ancient civilizations such as Greece, where nude figures were depicted in sculpture and painting to celebrate the human body and its beauty. The Renaissance also saw a resurgence of nude art, with artists such as Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci creating iconic works that celebrated the human form.
In modern times, nude art has continued to evolve and thrive. It has been a popular subject in photography, film, and performance art, with artists exploring themes such as sexuality, gender, and identity.
I had a chance to draw live nude models who would pose for hours, for the entire community of artists. I've always fancied drawing live models, charcoal art, etc.,
“Human figures are fascinating subjects for drawing and painting. Translation of 3D form into 2D is more than just copying. It requires selection and interpretation.“-John Raynes .
Below are pictures from my experience, of drawing live models. The poses vary from 5 mins warm-up poses to 3 hours long poses. These quick pose sketches help us get a sense of the overall human figure and the long poses help us capture details.
Being a part of the nude art community can be an incredible experience for both artists and models. As an artist, creating a nude piece can allow for a deeper connection with the subject, as the body is stripped down to its most basic form. As a model, being part of a nude art piece can be a liberating and empowering experience, allowing for a celebration of the body and all of its natural beauty.
Overall, being a part of the nude art community can be a beautiful and enriching experience. It celebrates the human body in all of its natural beauty and provides an opportunity for artists and models alike to connect with the subject on a deeper level.
Watch out for my figure drawing classes. :)
