Classical Life Drawing

Classical Figure/Life Drawing
This 4.5-hour workshop aims to introduce students to techniques, methods, and styles of classical figure drawing. The online nature of this course provides the rare opportunity for students to follow the instructor's demonstration while drawing from the same perspective.
Why is it important?
Live models in these life drawing sessions make 10 different poses in 10 minutes. When you make multiple 10 quick sketches within 1 minute each, it trains your brain to comprehend and draw different angles of the head/face. This is definitely a good exercise for drawing head/face/human figures.
What is it about life drawing?
The human figure is an unforgiving subject - it allows no error in the way a landscape or an abstract work does. This will eventually train your brain to see your mistakes easily and correct them quickly.
How does this work?
Short poses
-
Short poses are a great way to warm up the sketching. (Example: 1 minute, 2 minutes or 5 minutes poses)
-
The essence of these shorter poses is just to capture quick gestures and movements of the model.
-
Details are not of focus here.
Long poses
-
These are poses are longer than 10 minutes.
-
This gives you time to capture details of the pose.
-
You may use watercolors or charcoal or graphite and start adding tonal values to differentiate highlights and shadows
